Note: The strikethroughs are part of an edit. I was initially informed about cheating, but didn’t actually test it. Django commented on this (below) about how cheating in that way (cutting corners) doesn’t work. The rating was re-done.

I guess I haven’t done a review for awhile 🙂 This isn’t a bad place! It’s got decent effort, amounts, and isn’t too bad in the line of bugs.

It’s very simple — this is a racing game, Roblox style! (I say roblox style because of the crazy physics and fun track). It isn’t heavily scripted, but what’s there is fairly good. There is a loop and large jumps, vertical walls, and a fake sense of total control 🙂 [there are a few places where scripts will partially take over]. There are even 2 vehicles to choose from.

Unfortunately, the scripts could use a bit of improvement in detecting if everyone’s out of the race, and there’s no variation — it’s always one lap. Occasionally the vehicles get stuck or go flying [the latter probably can’t be helped]. Also, it is possible to cut corners or completely skip pieces of track [cheating]. And occasionally the cars glitch themselves (like just a second ago we started the race and I flew off to the right even though I was telling my hover car to go forward…). Finally, even though there are 2 different types of vehicles, the formula one car has very little control making it useless to try and win with.

MARK BREAKDOWN

Scripting: 6/10. Well, the scripting is in depth, but there is room for improvement — like detecting if everyone is in the starting area rather than racing [thus re-start the race immediately], or more in depth control/variation in the tracks. Also, it’d be good to detect if everyone’s already in a car, that the race might as well start immediately. Finally, this place is stuck on the “death to respawn” concept. Teleporting and the removal of cars would be a better solution.
Tools: 4/5. Not bad tools, but since they control the vehicles I gave a mark off because they need a little more improvement.
Building: 7/10. There are cracks in the track and the walls could’ve been a bit higher, but it was good overall. One could argue that it would be better to have more “stuff”, but that would’ve created more lag.
General Enjoyment: 8/10. Most people who like racing should have a lot of fun with this game, although I got very frustrated with losing a lot due to vehicle or track error.
Originality: n/a. It’s a racing game!
Creativity: 9/10. Rarely is it so that you can’t be more creative. For example, different colours in the track would’ve shown more creativity, or perhaps more hovercars with different statistics (like one is more fast, but another can turn better [better BodyGyro]
Ease of Use: 5/10. It’s difficult to use the cars. It’s also saying something when you can get into first place without touching the controls since I was typing part of this review. How does that work?
Easy to Learn: n/a.
Deals with Problems: 3/5. There are a few problems, as mentioned above (ex. cheating, glitches, etc.). Also, there is a “cheat” at the beginning that allows you to go faster than everyone who doesn’t know it. I’m unsure whether it’s simply pressing “y” before you start, or tapping “y” multiple times, I’m unsure.
Deals with Lag: 2/2. There isn’t much extra anywhere, so that’s always a plus 🙂 Though there was lag in the server I was, I think that was server lag due to other places, not the place itself. It was very un-laggy at one point.

Overall: 7.1/10. Basically, the scripts need to be worked on, and maybe colouring the track (but that’s a minor addition). A major thing would be to improve the track itself, or perhaps to change how the vehicles get around. Getting stuck is a major problem, which could be fixed by improving the tools or the track. However, this place deserves a visit, though it needs a bit of touch-up work, it’s a good place!

  1. Fixed that in the above. It upped your rating 0.2! Thanks for telling me this.

  2. Actually, if you “cheat” by jumping corners, it doesn’t allow you to finish the race. Nothing happens when you get to the finish.

  3. I was thinking about a cool ending he could make where the track starts falling apart all around you and explosions happen all around you XD.
