Zombie AssualtV3.0Status(Open and testing)

Upon entering this place, I wasn’t expecting much. Just another bad place, I thought, but seeing as it was popular I decided to check it out.

I was in for a big surprise.

This place is a novel. Literally, the whole concept is you’re in a story. You are a soldier after the zombies have taken over Robloxia. But you don’t just mindlessly shoot, there’s a story that goes along with it. The scripting is incredibly detailed, the building is great, and the overal system is astonishing. It also has room for expansion, which I hope is added. It’s targeted for a bit of a lower age group, so it’s not as “professional”, but it is still fun for all ages. The storyline is classic.

You start off in an area where, like an online game, it appears to “load”. You walk down the “ally-way” and different percentages appear (all increasing to 100%) “loaded”. Lots of creativity is found in some of those wordings… 🙂 Then you are another area where you can wait for games to be opened. At the current time there is only “game1”, but I suspect that more will be added later. There is a system in place that will wait for everybody to enter the game. It waits roughly 30 seconds, then it tells everyone that “game1” is about to close (a 30 second count down), at which point you cannot enter “game1”. Once in the game, much of you is turned transparent (an interesting effect!) and you get a tour of the area. BodyPosition is used a lot in this game. The nice thing about the tour is that scenes are actually displayed! It’s literally a motion-picture generation, just in the normal Robloxian 3D way. What I mean by that is that there are moving models, scripts to simulate an actual battle zone, etc. It’s very nice! After a fairly long introduction (but not too long), you are finally put down in the “green zone”. Another new feature is that you can “follow the yellow path”, which automatically appears/disappears depending on the stage of the game (very unique!). Zombies are generated at different parts of the interaction. Another great feature is that as time progresses, you are given the chance to get new (better) guns. It is not hard to get them, if you follow the instructions :).

The best feature is one I’ve dreamed of, but never yet implemented. Lag control. You are able to control the quality of the zombies and other things to control lag (so if there’s a lot, reduce it, if there’s none, add features).

I also find it nice that leadership is promoted. It makes it very fun for role playing.

I won’t give away any more of Blade3rd’s masterpiece, so you’ll have to go on in and enjoy it yourself! It’s got a lot of humour.

There are a few things that this place still needs, though. the building could be more detailed (but not by much), perhaps give a bit more space for the camera, and for more things to be added. The scripting still needs a little ‘touch-up’ work, but is effective overall. There isn’t much time for “open objective”, and it’s all preplanned. In other words, no randomness, it’s event A, B, C, and if everyone’s still alive complete D, E, and F. Once you die, you are exited from the gaming area.

MARK BREAKDOWN

Scripting: 10/10. Astonishing detail to scripting. Though it needs some touch ups, at this stage of development I think it’s very good.
Tools: 7/10. The proper tools are there, with little that could be more useful. They have been customized so you can’t hurt your fellow soldiers. Could be in a bit more detail, and have more of them, though.
Building: 7/10. Good building, but could use a bit more detail.
General Enjoyment: 6/10. There needs to be more ‘games’ to choose from, for different styles. Otherwise it was fun, though slow.
Originality: 4/10. A very different place, but many of the concepts used are taken from other ideas.
Creativity: 8/10. Very creative indeed! Many different events take place, using a wide variety of scripting effects that were known to carry them out.
Ease of Use: 4/6. Most of the features were easy to use, but there’s more that could be done, such as getting around easier (more space in paths).
Easy to Learn: 1/1. The little bit to learn was described well.
Deals with Problems: 9/10. Blade3rd (and a scripting partner?) have been doing a lot of work to deal with scripting problems.
Deals with Lag: 10/10. Very nice! The first features for decreasing lag I’ve actually seen! Also, there are rarely too many zombies, but they regen a lot. It works nicely!
Penalty: -0.5. As I said, it still needs work. So this penalty is basically saying “going great, but you need to keep working”, because I didn’t include the fact that there needs to be MORE as much as I could have in the above marking breakdown.

Overall: 7.1/10. This place did very well overall; it just needs more work done on it. I strongly suggest going to this place, if not now at least when more work is done on it.

  1. Just wait till I decide to attempt a game like that, or when chess123mate finishes one(different genre though),

  2. Really, i think this is the best game so far of 2008

  3. thats what I thought when I entered. It was cool, but I did manage to cheat the system. 🙂 not telling how though:P
